This time, I will review the changes immediately after the application of Silazane 50 Diamond Plus, the highest grade of Silazane 50, a coating that has been talked about as being very effective despite being a DIY project, and explain how to apply it.
I applied the Diamond Plus coating to my Civic Hatchback.
The Diamond Grade offers the highest level of protection and performance available in the lineup at Japan.
Silazan 50 Diamond Plus is a three-layer coating with considerably increased polysilazane film density. There is almost no other coating more effective than this.
I have also installed the top grade of the Silazan 50 series, Diamond 200 (Diamond Plus layered version), but only the following installation procedures and precautions are required.（Diamond 200 is available in Japan）

- Construction is far easier and easier
- Basically just spray it on a cloth and wipe it down.
- The first and second layers are applied continuously, and the third layer is applied after the second layer has dried for 2 hours.
- Construction Notes
- Important note is that water damage is strictly prohibited.
- Surface preparation should be ensured.
- Remove the previous coating (tools enclosed)
- It is safer to divide the installation into two days (1st day for surface preparation, 2nd day for coat application)
Be sure to keep these notes in mind.
The key is the water repellent effect, but at this level.
The durability is also perfect, and the Diamond 200 applied to the Civic has maintained this level of effectiveness even after surviving the scorching mid-summer heat with only a car wash. (Maintenance was performed at the end of summer.)
I would say without any discovery, it is a highly recommended coating agent.

It’s kind of shiny! It starts with “I’m shiny!” and then goes on to become slippery.

Touch-up marks can be disguised by the thickness of the film.
The Civic Hatchback that was installed this time has been touched up for stepping stone marks.

Diamond Plus: What is the key water repellency effect?

Very clean spherical water droplets, although the high pressure washer makes it difficult to leave large grains. It is even more beautiful in person than in the photo.
In addition, it appears as if water droplets are on top of the thick film.
After all, it is Diamond Plus, and the water repellency is so strong that it does not disappoint.

To be honest, I have the impression that Diamond 200, which has 5 layers of film, is slightly more water repellent. This is an area where the return is large even if costs are allocated.
Notes on the construction of Silazan 50 Diamond Plus
Please keep this in mind before construction.
This is important not only for Diamond Plus, but also for the construction of Silazan 50.
- Important note: Water damage is strictly prohibited(2 hours during installation and curing).
- Remove the previous coating (tools enclosed)
- Surface preparation should be ensured.
- It is safer to divide the installation into two days (1st day for surface preparation, 2nd day for coat application)
- The first and second layers are applied continuously, and the third layer is applied after the second layer has dried for 2 hours.
The basic drying time is 2 hours, but if humidity is low, such as in winter, it is safe to take 3 hours.

Especially note that water damage is a no-no.
As with all glass coatings, water damage during application and curing is strictly prohibited. For SILAZAN 50 series, curing time is 2 hours for all.
If it gets wet, immediately blow it up with a dry cloth and reapply it.
I did have one spot while installing Diamond 200 and it cured distorted.
Fortunately it is so slight as to be unnoticeable.

The procedure is almost the same as for Diamond 200.
Car wash (to remove sand and mud)
Wash the car thoroughly at the beginning to remove mud and other dirt.
Commercial shampoo can be used here.
Iron dust removal, etc. should be done as needed. I did not do it.

Surface preparation with ion-depositing agent
Ion deposit agents are used to remove previous coatings and ion deposits.
If previous coatings remain, Silazan 50 will not set. Be sure to remove it.
Ion deposition agents are like a fine file and are not very effective if too much moisture is present.
When I did it, it was also better to wipe away some of the moisture.
The process is simple: apply two to three pushes to a cloth and scrub the body. Then pour water on it and check to see if the water repellency is removed.

Car wash (to remove ion deposit agent)
This car wash removes ion deposit agents.
Wash the car thoroughly.
If you want to complete the coating in one day, you can use the special shampoo provided here (but use a large amount of water to ensure that ion deposits are removed).
If the shampoo is divided into two days, use the supplied special shampoo the next day.

Wipe down (end of day 1)
Since this is the end of day 1, wipe it down thoroughly to avoid water stains. (It will lose the meaning of doing ion deposit.)
Personally, though, I felt that about three layers could be managed in one day.
Wash the car with the included special shampoo (start of day 2)
Start by washing the car again. (If you are splitting it into two days, use the special shampoo provided here.)

Wipe down (thoroughly)
This is the last wipe before coating.
Please note that SILAZAN 50 must not be wetted with water, so please be extremely careful.
If this is prevented, there will be no basic failure.
degreaser
After washing, degrease the car.
The small amount of water remaining will now be gone.
The degreaser is rather large, and even if you use a lot of it, you will still have some left over. It should be able to be applied again before the topcoat is applied.

1st layer application
From here, the coating will be applied.
Mix A, B, and effect accelerator, spray 2~4 sprays on the cloth, and wipe up 50cm square.
It is very easy to apply because it extends well and does not become uneven.
The entire body should be installed; each layer takes about 30 minutes.
From this point on, the body becomes extremely shiny and begins to give off an intense diamond-plus shine.

Second layer application
After the first layer is applied, the second layer should be applied without leaving any time. However, the second layer should be applied in the same order as the first layer.
(The last of the first layer and the start of the second layer should not be the same.)
Drying for 2 hours
Allow to dry for 2 hours before applying the third layer (topcoat) and cure thoroughly.

Apply topcoat.
The notes here are the same as for the first and second layers.
Drying for 2 hours
Dry for 2 hours again, and the coating is complete.
Hand car wash will be available after one week and car wash machine after one month.

Additional construction 5-layer coating with Diamond Plus.
This time I installed it on my parents’ Civic Hatchback.
Size M is sufficient for Civic, but I bought LL.
The reason for this is to reapply the first and second layers, making a total of 5-layer coating of 4 layers of glass + topcoat.
This will give the same number of films and quality of film as Silazan 50 top-of-the-line Diamond 200. (Not exactly…)
Of course, water repellency can theoretically be improved by increasing the number of films.

Additional construction method with 5 layers of Diamond Plus
This one is doing something different from the basic use.
The procedure for the five layers is as follows.
Normal application of 1st layer (liquid A, B) and 2nd layer (liquid C, D)→1hourdrying→ Re-application of 1st layer (liquid A, B) and 2nd layer (liquid C, D) → 2 hours drying → Top coat
We simply applied the first and second layers of solvent again in the same order.
Especially for cars with a small area to be painted, such as convertible cars, this method is slightly more economical.
However, keep in mind that it is much safer to buy Diamond 200 if you want to do a 5-layer coating because it is not the original application.

Also, if you do the same procedure for Diamond 200, you will get 9 layers. (My Civic’s Diamond 200 may have more than 9 layers in some areas because I applied many layers.)
Any regrets about buying Diamond Plus?
It is not true that Silazan 50 Diamond Plus or Diamond 200 is not as effective as expected.
I am amazed at the strength of the water repellency of the previously applied Diamond 200 every time I wash my car.
We recommend these coatings even without discovery.
Differences between each of the Silazane 50 Diamond Grades
The Silazane 50 Diamond Series comes in three types.
The number of coatings and the quality of the coatings are different.
Diamond Plus and Diamond 200 have the same film quality.

Water repellency is increased by increasing the number of films.
Water repellency is steadily improved as surface irregularities gradually become smoother.
Because water and dirt are trapped in the microscopic irregularities of the surface, applying several layers of glass coating is basically justified. (Do not overdo it.)
Therefore, the expected effect of 3-layer Diamond Plus and 5-layer Diamond 200 is different.
What is the difference between two coats of Diamond Plus and Diamond 200?
The ease of fixation of the third and fourth layers of solvent is different.
The third and fourth layers of Diamond 200 have slightly different compositions for easier fixation.
Therefore, if you want to coat 5 layers, Diamond 200 is a safer choice.
