Silazane50 is high-performance ceramic coating, developed and made in Japan.
In coatings, it is better to have a topcoat (sacrificial film). It extends durability, protects the glass layer, and makes it easier to remove dirt by smoothing the surface.
First, the Silazane 50 topcoat model is recommended for
In the case of this car, I’ll put one shot of coating and then do the rest of the maintenance.
As for the key effects, the water repellency, gloss, and durability are all perfect.
I also had premium hydrofobic applied at the dealer on my Fit, but within a month the water repellency was ruined. I did maintenance and it was still the same.
After applying several coatings, we have found that there are almost no coatings that have durability in years. Silazane 50 series (especially Diamond 200) is one of the few coatings that can maintain water repellency after one year.
However, there are two major disadvantages that must be noted.
- There is no kit available for sale that can repair the topcoat ☜ Can be defended with a separate coating (after inquiring with officials ).
- If you want to restore or thicken the glass layer, Silazane 50 will not settle over the topcoat.
Therefore, it is recommended to apply the topcoat model after the second layer rather than buying it for the first layer.
- In this case, purchaseis OK.
- No need to increase the thickness of the glass film
- Maintenance can be done with a separate coating (special maintenance agent is a separate coating)
In my case, it is a total of 4 layers of coating with the Silazane 50 layer kit + topcoat kit.
Personally, however, I have the impression that it is more durable if a topcoat is applied. However, it is recommended that the topcoat be applied after sufficient layers of glass have been applied.
Silazane 50 is the best DIY coating on the market. The price is a little high, but if you are looking for a reliable effect, we recommend Dantotsu.

I have applied from the base grade Silazane 50 to the highest grade Diamond 200, and all of them are more effective than the price. Especially, Diamond 200 provides another dimension of water repellency.

A topcoat would be justice, though,
The topcoat alone will certainly extend the life of the film.
However, I would not recommend buying this model first if you are able to perform annual maintenance well.
This article explains why.
I personally recommend applying a layer of Silazane 50 after the application of Silazane 50, as shown in the coating plan below.

How effective are the Silazane 50 top-coated models?
The water repellency was intense. You can purchase the product and get this water repellency in half a day (most of the waiting time) of application.
The main role of the topcoat is to protect the glass layer of Silazane 50.
In addition, the following points will be enhanced by the addition of a membrane layer
- Improved antifouling properties
- Improved gloss
The protective performance of the glass film is definitely improved.
Two layers are better than one. There is no doubt about this.
The durability period will certainly be improved.
Nevertheless, annual maintenance is essential.
In that case, the topcoat needs to be revived, but there is no revival agent for that (I contacted the officials).
In other words, there is no effective maintenance method (more on this later).

The topcoat further smoothes the surface.

Improved gloss
Gloss is improved because the film layer is increased.

The disadvantages of the topcoat model should really be taken care of.
With Silazane 50, the only disadvantage is that it can fail if it gets wet or drenched during installation.

- Topcoat maintenance agents only create a separate component film.
- Silazane 50 will not settle over topcoat.
The only way to maintain the topcoat model is to create an additional film with a maintenance agent.

The topcoat is a sacrificial film, but when damaged, there is no solvent to repair or revive it.
Maintenance agents, on the other hand, form a sacrificial coating. They are different.

Frankly, this solves the majority of the problem, but, there is no recovery method if the topcoat itself comes off.
The topcoat maintenance agent is designed to settle on the topcoat layer, not the silazane 50 layer, so there is nothing to be done if the topcoat itself is removed.
Silazane 50 will not settle over topcoat.
Silazane 50 is designed to be difficult to settle over the topcoat.
This is also true for topcoats such as Diamond Plus.
It is a matter of chemical compatibility, similar to why silazane 50 does not adhere over other coatings.
I too removed the EX Keeper topcoat when switching from EX Keeper to Silazane 50.
If you want to thicken the glass layer, you need to remove the topcoat.

For this reason, the topcoat must be removed if the water repellency is reduced and maintenance is desired.
- Remove topcoat and add another layer of Silazane 50
- Periodically apply topcoat maintenance agent to prevent topcoat from peeling off (layer of maintenance agent slightly reduces water repellency)
We are doomed to do only one of these things.
It is recommended that the topcoat model be purchased after multiple layers of Silazane 50.

Who should not buy a topcoat model?
It is not suitable for those who want to maintain it well on an annual basis.
However, once you apply it, that’s it, nothing to do until you sell it! You can paint it if you want to.
However, the water repellent effect is about one year for any coating.
Annual maintenance is definitely needed, as are stores such as Keepers.
Otherwise, the water repellent effect will not be achieved as expected.

From the above, it can be said that the topcoat model is for final finishing.
It would be best to apply several layers of Silazane 50 and then apply the topcoat model as a sacrificial film.
